Lion hunting
Dominated by the Rufigi River ecosystem, the Selous is a wonderful mixture of miombo woodland, with large open plains sprinkled with Terminalia trees, and short grass Savannah that supports large numbers of wildlife such as buffalo, zebra, eland, waterbuck, reedbuck, bushbuck, Nyasa wildebeest, impala, giraffe, warthog, bushpig, Sharp's grysbok and other species. The margins of these Savannah's are inhabited by large numbers of elephant. Also present are East African greater kudu, Roosevelt's sable, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, duiker (red, blue and common) and a large number of lion and leopard. The various rivers support large numbers of hippopotamus and crocodile. The fishing can be excellent for the famous tiger Lion hunting.
